Effectiveness of laparoscopic appendectomy over open appendectomy in a tertiary care centre: a retrospective study

Background: Acute abdomen is the most common surgical clinical entity. Appendectomy treatment of choice for acute appendicitis. It can be done by open or laparoscopic method. Laparoscopic appendectomy gives a better evaluation peritoneal cavity than that obtained approach and also facilitates other differential diagnosis. Methods: Patients admitted under unit from December 2020 to June 2022, at Mamata Medical College Hospital, Khammam. A study was carried out on 100 patients were with 50 undergoing remaining appendectomy. ln both groups outcome assessed based intra operative finding, time, post-operative recovery, complications, length hospital stay. Results: Findings compared recorded. After analysing data, there significant differences between two procedures appendicectomy being in respect post pain perception, duration analgesics used days, postoperative infection, bleeding, stay days return normal work p value significant.
